Music

Music is an art, an expression of emotions through harmonic frequencies. Mostly music includes people singing with their voices or playing musical instruments. The science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination and in temporal relationship, to produce a composition having unity and continuity.

Music is being taught to all classes, once in a week. This consists of two parts namely Saralivarisaigal, Jandaivarisaigal, hymns, psalms and songs along with musical notes, scales, chords and are efficiently taught to all students based on their level. The grade system is being followed and awarded upon the output of the students.

Dance

Dance is a holistic exercise that builds one’s mind and body. Adding dance to academics is not a diversion or disturbance but it makes students better in life. Dance is a mix of art and exercise that makes one sharper and stronger. Participants are more aware of their strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to identify them and work on them. Not only do they learn to dance but also dance engages them in a physical activity and they experience something that highlights their spirit.

Good music and good dancing is a great way to be in a happy state of mind. The teaching pattern is interactive and communicative ensuring that the learning process is fun and stress-free. Basics of the classical dance, Folk and Western Dances are also taught to learn and enjoy as a work out.  Regular practice is given to the students to enhance their dancing skills.

Drawing

Drawing plays a vital role in our cognitive development. It can help the students to learn the art of creative thinking, develop hand-eye coordination, enhance analytic skills, and to conceptualize ideas. Drawing can be incorporated into learning in many ways, including visual mapping, reflective thinking, organising and presenting information, and it is a way of communication that can transcend language barriers.

Drawing is not something that should be confined to art lessons but a skill that can play a vital role in different subject areas in school education, and later on in the workplace.

Craft Work

Introducing arts and crafts to the kids and involving them in such fun-filled activities in school will help them build their cognitive, physical, and social development. Experiences in art, craft and design will enable them to learn how to reflect critically on others’ work as well as their own work. They learn to think and act as artists, makers and designers, working creatively and intelligently. They develop the behaviour of appreciation and engagement in art, craft and design as critical consumers.

Some of the benefits of arts and crafts in the school curriculum are the development of fine motor skills, enhances dexterity, improvement in hand-eye coordination, learning to appreciate art, enhances self-expression, helps in socializing, boosts confidence, enhances creativity, sharpens skills of decision making, develops memory and visual learning.
